We are sorry to report the Cadillac Festival of Races is cancelled for 2019. We have seen a steady decline in participants over the last 4-5 years and this year is no exception. Please know if you have already registered to run/bike/board or if your business has so generously sponsored, you will received a full refund. This post is getting an enormous amount of eyeballs and responses, which is heart warming, but why do the 3770 people that saw this not sign up and participate? It’s not like we don’t want to do the race...

Karen Shuboy Sullivan, gee I wonder why I quit this race 4 or 5 years ago....

That is sad. I have run this race once. I live in Owosso and we have a festival of races during our Curwood Festival. Less than 35 people finished the half this year. They may as well put a fork in that one as well. Each year the numbers go down.

I so appreciate all you and your volunteers have done to bring quality racing to Cadillac. After doing about 40 of Cadillac‘s Labor Day races, it will seem different thiis year.

A loss for our community. Longest running 10k in Michigan I believe. And one of, if not THE, first adventure type multi-sport events in Michigan. The venue, awards, race environment and support over the years have been some of the best I’ve personally experienced compared to numerous races I’ve participated in throughout the state. Thank you for the years of effort trying to maintain and grow this event in our community.

I’m just gonna live in my race shirts and weep. It was great. I wish planning and volunteering was all cheaper and easier. I’ve always wished we could have a mud run or obstacle race or bubble run or foam run or foam glow or anything not around here. But I know that takes lots of πŸ’° and lots of people and of course participants. Really sad to see the longest running 10k go bye bye. But as a volunteer for this and many organizations, I totally understand.

Absolutely loved this event! So sad to see it cancelled. I’ll miss the cool shirts too... it was great while it lasted and THANK YOU to all that made it happen over the years!! πŸƒπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‘£πŸ‘£πŸ‘£πŸ‘£πŸ‘£

This post is getting an enormous amount of eyeballs and responses, which is heart warming, but why do the 1400 people that saw this not sign up and participate? It’s not like we don’t want to do the race...

I’m so sad! I have run this race, since 2012, the year after I met my husband.

My favorite race last year and my first overall win which I'll never forget. I really liked this race and sad to see it being cancelled but understand

So sad

Emily Woodcock

That's too bad😞 look forward to it every year

I would love to do it but since back surgery I don’t run anymore....I’m sorry to see it go

This is exactly what happened to the “Ride for A Cause” for our local Oasis use to bring in thousands for Oasis and after a decade dwindled to nothing ... unfortunate. In Wexford county when I looked at the non-profits we were trying to support back than it was 140!! A very generous community however it’s just a rotating movement of the same money - people can’t donate or participate in everything ..

Pamela Cryderman wtf

I ran in this race the last two years, and won silver in my age group last year. I had a blast and will miss this event, but I also understand the reason for cancelling it. Thank you Gus, as well as all the volunteers, for putting on such a fun and exciting race. Hopefully, this event can make a comeback at some point.

I’m sorry to see it’s ended... But honestly today is the first time I’ve ever heard about the race, and I’ve lived in Cadillac for 8 years and lake city for 25 before that...I’m just wondering if maybe there wasn’t enough people aware of it? Because I’ve talked to many others that have also never known about it and they are also from the area...

You can’t even just put on a 5k or the 10k? This is the longest running 10k. That would be terrible to just end that like that

I was planning on signing up in the next few weeks. Great race! 😒

I'm sad and disappointed, but understand the enormous amount of resources it takes for an event like this. I had planned to participate in the adventure tri, shame on me for not registering early to show support for this event. Thanks for the years of races!

We think there are simply too many competing events in the region and interest has changed from races in our format to “color runs” mud runs and obstacle course racing. We’ve seen a very sharp decline in registrations and sponsorship, to the point we had to decide to either loose a lot of money or pull the plug. We are a non profit that has donated to worthy causes in our community over the years. It is really unfortunate to see it end after a very very long continuous “run”
